MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node and the MIT Club of HK completed the insightful tour of Lai Chi Wo, one of the largest well-preserved rural areas located in New Territories.
The participants received a taste of how the CCO preserves this important area and garnered a deeper understanding on the importance of sustainability. They were shown eco-friendly infrastructure projects such as Smart Toilets, Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Internet of Things (IoT), and much more!
This 400-year-old Hakka Village has been awarded the prestigious Special Recognition for Sustainable Development in the 2020 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The project led by HKU team is built on HSBC Rural Sustainability Programme since 2013 and implemented by the Centre for Civil Society and Governance with full support from the Lai Chi Wo Village and HSBC.
We want to thank everyone once more for participating in this meaningful excursion!
